As we enter into 2009 there is great excitement on the global political scene because the United States has just elected its first black president. There is also great uncertainty and challenges on the global financial scene as almost every nation’s economy is crumbling.
Here in the U.S. things have gone hay wire as homes are being foreclosed on. Thousands of people are losing jobs daily and murder suicide is on the increase. Although these circumstances affect both Christians and non-Christians alike, our attitude, I mean the attitude of the children of God should be different.
As I waited on God for a word for His people for 2009, there was such peace in my spirit, an indication of the great things in store for us as individuals and the church as a whole. The Lord promised that “this year will be a Year of Establishment”. The scriptural base for this year-long vision is 2 Chronicles 20:20(b).
The basis of establishment with divine foundation is in the Lord. Jehoshaphat declared that establishment does not come from any human being or human connections but from the Lord! We need to have absolute faith in God that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we can think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). We should not waver concerning God’s promises to us. Our faith and belief in God will trigger the possibilities unimaginable to man. Bible says that with God all things are possible. I believe that God is able to take care of those who are His, even in this economic crisis. He is also able to take care of His Kingdom & Church if we believe in Him. To establish is to make permanent and stable. In 2009, the Lord is prepared to establish our faith, marriages, education, finances, businesses, etc. Nothing will move us!
The next phase of this promise is the crucial step to believe (honor and respect) the men of God (prophets). Many people show little respect and appreciation to men of God (pastors) but do not realize that their prosperity (advancement and accomplishment) is linked to them. History and statistics show that those who revered, served or honored men of God prospered in every way of their lives … consider Joshua who served Moses; Elisha who served Elijah, etc. But also consider Lot who virtually troubled and disrespected his uncle Abraham, and what he consequently suffered. He lost his wife and was trapped by his own daughters to commit incest. I admonish anyone reading this to value his or her spiritual leader so God’s word and promise will be fulfilled in his or her life.
As you journey through 2009, be convinced that God has decided to establish you in every area of your life!
I wish you well in this year!!
Pastor Alex.
